Allred Eyes Care

Founded In 1964, Allred Family Eye Care Optometry Has Been Caring For Fullerton’s Eyes For Nearly 55 Years

Our history begins with our founding by Dr. Douglas L. Chase in 1964. Dr. Chase’s practice grew and flourished and added Dr. Robert T. Rice as a partner in 1984; we then became known as “Drs. Chase & Rice Optometry”. In 2000, Dr. Allred joined our practice and we became “Drs. Rice & Allred Family Optometry”. Today, as Allred Family Eye Care Optometry, we we have grown and matured as a practice. But we have always remained focused on one thing: providing the best possible personalized eye care to our patients, their friends, and families. For over 50 years we have been in Fullerton. Thank you for being part of our family!

C. Troy Allred, OD

Amanda Alves, OD

Mathew Khamis, OD

Dr. Allred loves practicing Optometry, feeling humbled and fortunate to be able to live his passion every day. His enthusiasm for the profession shows in the long-lasting relationships he creates with his patients and their families. With a passion for education, Dr. Allred is deeply involved in clinical education and believes that educating his patients on their eyes and eye health is key to a great doctor/patient relationship. Dr. Allred has a special focus on pediatric eye care and vision therapy. In 2016 he was appointed Chief of Pediatric & Vision Therapy Service at the University Eye Center in Ketchum University. His academic and professional achievements include:

Doctor of Optometry, Southern California College of Optometry

Bachelor of Science, Brigham Young University

Pediatric Eye Care Residency Training, Birmingham School of Optometry

Chief of Pediatric & Vision Therapy Service, University Eye Center

When out of the office, Dr. Allred spends time with his wife, Heather, and his four terrific children. Both he and his wife are active in the community and in church.

Long-time patients of our office may remember Dr. Alves before she became a doctor. Before becoming an Optometrist, Dr. Alves interned at Allred Family Eye Care while she pursued her undergraduate and graduate degrees. We count ourselves lucky that she chose this office when she graduated! Dr. Alves has made a big splash since her return to our practice as an Optometrist. Her expertise in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation brings a breadth of experience to our patients. Her academic and professional achievements include:
 – Doctor of Optometry, Western University College of Optometry
– Bachelor of Science, California State University Fullerton
 – Recipient, Designs for Vision – Dr. William Feinbloom Low Vision Award (2015)
 – Low Vision Rehabilitation & Ocular Disease Management training, Veteran’s Affairs Hospital (Long Beach)
Ready for some interesting Allred Eye Care trivia? Here it is: Dr. Alves married her husband, Dr. Mathew Khamis (see below), after meeting him at our practice when they both worked as interns. They welcomed their son, Locklin, into the world in February 2020. That’s right- we can be your matchmakers, too!

Dr. Mathew Khamis is very familiar with the So-Cal area, born and raised right here in Fullerton and a Sunny Hills High School Alumnus. He was introduced to the field of Optometry at a young age when he received his first pair of glasses. He couldn’t believe the level of detail that his vision was missing without correction! Dr. Khamis owes quite a bit more than vision to the field of Optometry, as he met his wife (our very own, Dr. Amanda Alves) as an Optometric Technician right here at Allred Family Eye Care! He is the proud father of their son, Locklin, born February 2020. His academic and professional achievements include:
 – Doctor of Optometry, Southern California College of Optometry
 – Recipient, Dr. Homer A. Nelson Memorial Scholarship to Orange County residents
 – Bachelor of Science, University of California Los Angeles
 – Clinical rotations completed at the Veterans Affairs Clinic (Bakersfield), and University Eye Care Center (Los Angeles, Fullerton)
 – Contact Lens fitting for several Major League Baseball teams, getting them to see even better than 20/20!
As his patient, you will enjoy both high-quality vision care as well as his sense of humor, which earned him the coveted “Class Clown” award in his Optometric class.

Meet Our Team

Niki

Molly

Nayhely

Sarah

Wonderfully organized and always in the know, Niki has demonstrated her role as the “brains” behind our operation. Responsible for ensuring our office runs smoothly, Niki’s contribution can’t be understated.
Our savvy patients know to talk to Niki when they have a special request- because she’s Dr. Allred’s sister, she knows how to make things happen- you could say she’s got some leverage.
Our little bundle of sunshine, Molly is eager to greet every patient she meets. Molly is new to the optical industry, but she is a very fast learner. She can help you out with anything you need. Molly loves reading, and understands the struggle of needing glasses to see, so anyway she can help is a great honor. Life Motto: Fall seven times, stand up eight
Nayhely is a crucial part of our eyecare team. She is very knowledgeable about eyewear options, and she is great at helping you choose your perfect style, so you can be confident while seeing your best. Nayhely’s primary life goal is to provide the best care to patients and help in every way possible. Life Motto: Believe
Sarah found her passion for eyewear at 10 years old when she helped her mom choose her new frame. It was then that she knew she was meant for the optical world. Sarah is excellent at adjusting your glasses to fit just the way you like. Fun fact: you may see her wearing many different frames, but she really doesn’t need glasses to see. She just loves glasses that much.
Life Motto: “Try until you do, and soon you will become.” -unknown
